Three students from Thailand, Sureeporn Triphetprapa, Thidarat Phianchat and Kanjana Komkla, received the 2016 Stockholm Junior Water Prize on Tuesday for their innovative water retention device that mimics the water retention of the Bromeliad plant. H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip of Sweden presented the prize at an award ceremony during World Water Week in Stockholm. As the three received the prize, Kanjana Komkla said “I’m really happy but I think every team is the best! And thank you everyone.” By examining the efficacy of natural water collection by plants – especially in terms of the shape of plants that collect and capture water – Sureeporn Triphetprapa, Thidarat Phianchat and Kanjana Komkla built a device that mimics the water retention of the Bromeliad plant. ​ ‎ ABUJA - Six persons escaped death in Abuja as an office building located on Plot 444 around Citec Villas in Gwarinpa collapsed. The building which reportedly collapsed around 1am this morning served as residence for some workers whose organizations could not be immediately verified. Vanguard gathered that the building is owned by a former governor of Osun state. Six persons have already been pulled out of the rubble while two are currently trapped. Personnel of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC are spearheading the rescue operations.

But the inter-bank market registered moderate stability as mid-day trading rate hovered at N315/ USD1 after depreciating to N316. The developments were coming against the inability of eight out of the nine banks banned from the interbank market failed to resolve the issues with the apex bank and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, over the weekend.
