Liverpool want Jurgen Klopp to replace Brendan Rodgers and the German has indicated his interest in becoming the club's new manager, Goal understands. Official talks between Liverpool and Klopp will take place this week with the club confident of appointing a new manager ahead of their next fixture away at Tottenham on October 17. Klopp won two Bundesliga titles during seven years with Borussia Dortmund and is considered by Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group as an ideal fit to take over at Anfield. The club sounded out the 48-year-old over the summer but kept faith with Rodgers after being told that Klopp was not yet ready for a new job after leaving Dortmund at the end of last season. Now Klopp is ready to return to management and is attracted by the prospect of fulfilling his ambition to manage in the Premier League at a historic club like Liverpool.

The Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers has been sacked, Temmyguru.com sports has gathered. This is coming on the heels of his team's 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby which left them in tenth position and six places away from the top spot. The former Swansea coach, who guided the team to second place two seasons ago, could not re-enact the form that saw Luiz Suarez and Daniel Sturridge mesmerise the Premier League with stunning goals. A statement released by the club states: "We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Brendan Rodgers for the significant contribution he has made to the club and express our gratitude for his hard work and commitment. Former Minist Of Petroleum Resources Arrested By UK Agency

Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison- Madueke , has been arrested by the UK National Crime Agency, today, October 2 . According to Naij, Diezani an I was arrested for bribery and corruption related offences which are currently being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency. Four other Nigerians were also arrested alongside Diezani by the British law enforcement agency. The report said the British High Commission in Nigeria through its Press and Public Affairs Officer, Joseph Abuku, confirmed the arrest of some Nigerians by the UK agency. "This morning, five people between the ages of 21 and 60 were arrested on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences. The crimes are being investigated by the National Crime Agency. "The National Crime Agency does not confirm identity at arrest nor provide information that could be used to corroborate the identity of an arrested individual,"  he said. King Dalindyebo Jailed For 12years In South Africa.

King Dalindyebo in South Africa has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a series of charges including kidnapping, assault and arson. Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, from Nelson Mandela's Thembu ethnic group, was jailed by the Supreme Court of Appeals. He had approached the SCA to overturn a 2009 court ruling on the matter, which had sentenced him to 15 years. The charges relate to a dispute he had with some of his subjects more than two decades ago. He was accused of kidnapping a woman and her six children, setting their home on fire and beating up four youths, one of whom died, because one of their relatives had failed to present himself before the kings's traditional court. The king has never denied the charges but believed his actions were in line with disciplining his subjects, reports say. The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said on Thursday that 80 members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, had surrendered to the troops of the Nigerian Army in Borno State. Those who surrendered, the Army spokesman said, included Boko Haram commanders, foot soldiers and suppliers of logistics. Usman said in a statement that those who surrendered had been confirmed to have participated in several attacks in Bama, Borno State. He said, "In a landmark event today, 80 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered en masse to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole,  in Bama, Borno State. "The terrorists, among whom were commanders, suppliers and foot soldiers, confirmed to have partaken in several terrorist attacks, especially on Bama town, Borno State, surrendered as a result of the intense heat and continuous offensive action embarked upon by troops." Super Eagles Move Up In FIFA Ranking

Nigeria have moved up a spot from the 53rd position they occupied last month to the 52nd position in the latest rankings released by FIFA on Thursday. The Super Eagles added a point to their previous ranking points of 599 to arrive at 600 points, to move up one step in the table, despite playing two matches since the last rankings. The points however, have not helped the team's position on the continent as Nigeria dropped a spot from last month's ninth to the 10th. Algeria remain the continent's top team, tough the North Africans dropped from their 955 points in September to 927 points to place 19th in the world. Ivory Coast dropped eight points from September's 924 points to have 916 points in October. They are the 21st team in the world.
